How Effective Is Group Therapy? Explore Groups, Online Sessions and Life Coaching
Growth does not always have to happen one-to-one. A well-matched group offers a place to learn alongside others, hear different perspectives, and practise expressing yourself. Belief Center for Family Therapy welcomes inquiries about group services, individual appointments, and life coaching.
How effective is group therapy?
A 2021 research review in the American Journal of Psychotherapy summarized 11 meta-analyses involving 329 randomized controlled trials and more than 27,000 patients. The review supports group psychotherapy as an effective treatment and reports outcomes comparable to individual psychotherapy across the research reviewed. This does not mean every group, approach, or participant has the same outcome.
There is no single percentage that honestly describes the success of every therapy group. Results depend on the concern being addressed, the approach, the facilitator, participation, and how improvement is measured. Published research is not a measured success rate for BCFFT.
What a group can offer
A group creates opportunities to hear other perspectives, reflect on shared experiences, and practise communication in a facilitated setting. Ask about the group's purpose, format, facilitator, suitability, confidentiality expectations, and participation requirements. Other members' confidentiality cannot be absolutely guaranteed.
Online groups and individual therapy
Interested in joining remotely? Tell us which state you will be physically in during appointments and whether you are looking for a group or an individual session. Clinical services can be offered only where the treating clinician is licensed or otherwise legally authorized. Availability, group topics, dates, fees, and fit are confirmed before enrollment.
Life coaching and educational groups
If your focus is personal goals, routines, accountability, or life direction, ask about life coaching or educational group options. Coaching is not psychotherapy or treatment for mental health conditions. The service must match its actual purpose; calling therapy coaching does not change the requirements that apply. Contact us from wherever you live to ask which services may be available for your location and goals.
Find your next step
Send a short inquiry with your state, your preference for group or individual support, and whether you are seeking therapy, coaching, or education. We will confirm available options, current fees, and the next steps. You do not need to include a detailed personal history in a general contact form.
